Blues Rock played with Soul

About

We are a Rhythm and Blues band mainly based in the south of Hampshire.

We specialise in melodic Blues and Rock covers - some you will recognise, some you won't - but all played with Soul for our enjoyment as well as yours.

With our line-up of lead and rhythm guitars, keyboards, and bass and drums we can cover a wide range of styles. So come down and see us and we'll give you some Gary Moore, Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt, Hamilton Loomis - perhaps some Stevie Wonder and Focus - and much more! We've even been known to slip in some Squeeze and Paul Weller classics. Hope to see you soon.

Band

Vocals and Rhythm Guitar

Alan Taylor

Alan was asked to audition for Retread RnB Band as 2nd guitar player. The singer they had invited along didn’t show up so they asked him to temporarily cover on vocals. It was something of a Susan Boyle moment. They liked him and he's still singing lead vocals for the band. He loves playing and singing with these very fine musicians and he's praying that the original singer doesn’t ever turn up.
Lead Guitar

Nick Thomas

Having spent too many years playing with himself in his bedroom, Nick needed a band. Not any old band playing any old songs, but a good band playing songs that he wanted to play. A band comprising like-minded old people - ideally with a keyboard player so that there would be somewhere to rest the beers. Retread meets the criteria perfectly!
Keyboards

Paul Perryman

Paul started playing piano in the nineteen-sixties - so he must be nearly finished by now. His experience in a wide range of musical styles has secured his place in the band, either that or they need his keyboard to rest their beers upon. He is living proof in the medicinal power of Badgers Best Bitter and is looking forward to you buying the next round. Cheers!
Dick Jones
Bass

Dick Jones

Dick has been playing bass for fifty years. You’d think he’d have cracked it by now but no such luck! He’s played with such seminal local bands as Watch That Man, ‘Ere We Go, Perfectly Frank and The Soulcatchers. Come to a gig and catch him using his famous catchphrase: ‘What key’s this in?’; and marvel at his ‘all fingers and thumbs technique’. Buy him a beer, or promise him large amounts of money and he’ll agree not to sing.
Drums

John Weight

John (“Sticky”) started banging away on biscuit tins with lids for cymbals and his mum’s knitting needles for sticks from about the age of seven. Some say his present kit sounds just like that today. He says his drumming is described as "very heavy but very humble".
